Learn More about Measure C at Informational Webinar
Published on June 15, 2026
The City of Santa Cruz invites community members to attend an upcoming informational webinar about Measure C, the Workforce Housing Affordability Act of 2025, on Tuesday, June 30, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Santa Cruz voters approved Measure C in November 2025, establishing a dedicated local funding source to support affordable housing and homelessness prevention efforts in the community. As implementation begins on July 1, 2026, the webinar will provide residents, property owners, and other interested community members with an opportunity to learn more about the measure and ask questions.
The webinar will cover key components of Measure C, including:
- The annual $96 parcel tax, which takes effect July 1, 2026
- Available senior (low-income), low-income, and nonprofit exemptions
- The transfer tax on property sales exceeding $1.8 million, which also takes effect July 1, 2026
- Additional exemptions associated with the transfer tax
- Implementation timelines and resources available to the public
As part of the City's outreach efforts, informational postcards have been mailed to residential property owners throughout Santa Cruz and have begun arriving in mailboxes this week. The postcards provide an overview of Measure C, details about the upcoming webinar, and direct recipients to additional online resources where they can learn more about how the measure may apply to them.
Community members can register for the webinar and access frequently asked questions, exemption information, and additional details at santacruzca.gov/measurec.
