City of Santa Cruz Announces Temporary Rail Trail Closure Aug. 17–20
SANTA CRUZ, CA — The City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation and Public Works departments will temporarily close a section of the Rail Trail from the California/Bay entrance to the Depot Park Trestle for vegetation management and trail maintenance.
The closure will take place Monday, Aug. 17 through Thursday, Aug. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Trail users should plan to use an alternate route during work hours.
Crews will clear overgrown vegetation along the approximately 3,500-foot retaining wall, prune trees and sweep the trail. Trucks, chippers and other equipment will be operating along the trail, requiring the temporary closure for the safety of the public and work crews.
This routine maintenance helps keep this popular section of the Rail Trail safe, clear and accessible for the community.
The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
