Get ready, Santa Cruz! July is Park and Recreation Month — a nationwide celebration recognizing how parks and recreation build stronger, healthier and more connected communities.

Since 1985, communities across the country have celebrated this special month to honor the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals — along with hundreds of thousands of seasonal staff and volunteers — who make our parks, programs and public spaces possible. Here in Santa Cruz, we’re proud to celebrate the people and places that help our community thrive.
