Hike & Help at Pogonip Open Space- July 30, 2026

Join Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship for a unique combination of a social hike and trail maintenance event on weekday mornings, and become a valuable part of the team that monitors local trails.

Who: Adults only. Difficulty: Easy to moderate. It's okay if you've never done trail work before. We love accommodating new and returning volunteers—all experience levels are welcome at SCMTS events.
What: At Hike & Help events, we scout trails and perform light maintenance tasks while exploring the beauty of Santa Cruz parks.
When: Thursday, July 30, 2026 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM PT
Where:Pogonip - Spring Trailhead, 700 Spring St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060

What to Bring:

Layers, long-sleeve clothing, and sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots for walking on uneven surfaces.
Personal protective equipment if you have it, including a helmet (some volunteers wear a bike helmet), gloves, eye protection, and ear plugs.
Water, snacks, sunscreen, and a backpack to carry your belongings.

SCMTS Provides:

Event facilitation and professional trail work guidance from SCMTS staff and volunteers.
All the tools and equipment you'll be using for the day.
Extra personal protective equipment in case you need it.
Light refreshments and snacks.

Accessibility

Participants should be ready to walk on steep, uneven terrain while carrying hand tools and gear.
The event will be conducted exclusively in English.
Capacity is limited, so please inform us if your plans change and you can no longer participate.
