Free Self-Defense Classes Through Voucher Program

The City of Santa Cruz is offering a limited number of free self-defense classes to local residents through the Commission for the Prevention of Violence Against Women (CPVAW) Self-Defense Class Voucher Program. 

This program is designed to increase access to personal safety training by covering the cost of self-defense classes at approved partner organizations. Eligible Santa Cruz residents may receive a voucher that can be used to attend a class at no cost. 

How the program works: 

  • Residents complete the City’s Self-Defense Class Voucher Form. 
  • Vouchers are issued based on eligibility and available funding. 
  • Vouchers can be used with a registered partner organization. 
  • Participants attend a self-defense class at no cost. 

Registered partner organizations currently include: 

Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be offered until program funds are exhausted. The program is open to Santa Cruz residents.
