Are you a high school student who lives in the City of Santa Cruz? Want to make a difference, build leadership skills, connect with City leaders, and get paid?

Apply for the City of Santa Cruz Youth Liaison with the Youth Action Network (YAN)!

As a Youth Liaison, you'll represent youth voices, learn how local government works, attend City Council meetings, and gain real public speaking and leadership experience. United Way Santa Cruz County’s Youth Action Network (YAN) empowers young people to create positive community change and ensures youth voices are heard in local decision-making.

Program Benefits:

- Deepen your understanding of how your city supports its community
- Strengthen your leadership and communication skills
- Build meaningful connections with city staff, elected leaders, and peers
- Make a real impact in your community!

Commitments:
- 3-4 hours per month for 10 months (26/27 school year)
- Collaborate regularly with United Way staff and your City Council Mentor
- Engage with local leaders and community events
- Attend City Council meetings to bring youth voices forward
- Participate in workshops to build leadership and advocacy skills

Complete this application by August 28th, 2026.

*Youth Liaison will be compensated up to $650 through stipends and/or community service hours
