In observance of Independence Day, most City of Santa Cruz administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026. Essential services, including police, fire, and emergency response, will continue to operate as normal. To help keep our community safe during the holiday weekend, a Citywide Safety Enhancement Zone will be in effect from Friday, July 3, at 8:00 a.m. through Monday, July 6, at 8:00 a.m. During this time, fines for violations of the City's Municipal Code, including the illegal discharge of fireworks, littering, and public consumption of alcohol, will be tripled.

If you witness the discharge of illegal fireworks, please report it to the Santa Cruz Police non-emergency line at 831-471-1131.

As a reminder, all fireworks are illegal, including "Safe and Sane" fireworks. Fireworks can put people, pets, property, and the environment at risk. Please celebrate responsibly and leave the fireworks to the professionals. We wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend!
