Walking Adventure Group

We have some fun adventures planned on both Tuesdays and Thursdays for people who are looking to get some exercise and make new friends while enjoying the beauty of Santa Cruz! Walks meet at 9:30 am and aim to return by 11:30 am.

Thursdays- A slightly faster paced walk for people who enjoy walking 2-4 miles at various elevation gains.

December 4th: Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve

Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve, approx. 2 miles:

Park at the Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve parking lot. We will be walking in and taking the Wallflower loop. Leashed dogs allowed. Dirt paths, hiking sticks recommended. 95 ft elevation gain.

December 11th: Meet at Quail Hollow Ranch County Park

Quail Hollow Ranch, 3.3 miles***:

We will be hiking Sunset Trail to Woodrat Trail to Discovery Loop at Quail Hollow! Some winter flowers are still in bloom, and we may see some horses out in the corrals as well. No dogs allowed. Approx. 500ft elevation gain. Please park and meet at Quail Hollow Ranch County Park located at 800 Quail Hollow Rd, Felton, CA 95018

December 18th: Meet at Land Trust's Glenwood Open Space Preserve

Glenwood Open Space Preserve, approx 2-3 miles**:

Meet at the Land Trust's Glenwood Open Space Preserve parking lot, at approximately 350 Glenwood Drive, Scotts Valley (a dirt lot just north of the intersection of Glenwood Drive and Kerry Court). We will walk northward from the lot (about 0.5 miles) to the Preserve entrance and hike several of the single-track dirt trail loops in the 166 acres of the Preserve. We will hike through varying habitats including grassland, riparian and oak woodland, and enjoy sweeping views of Scotts Valley. Easy to moderate terrain with a few steep stretches. Walking stick recommended.

December 25th:

No Walk Today

No walk today as the Center is closed.

 

Please go on walks that feel comfortable for you within the corresponding parameters.

No asterisk means the walk is less than 100 ft elevation gain.

*: Up to 200 ft elevation gain. Hiking sticks recommended.

**: Up to 300 ft elevation gain. Hiking sticks recommended.

***: Up to 600 ft elevation gain. Hiking sticks recommended.
