Omega Nu Ducky Derby

The Ducky Derby is an annual family-friendly fundraising event hosted by Omega Nu of Santa Cruz, typically held on the fourth Saturday in April at Harvey West Park’s Friendship Gardens. The event features a lively carnival atmosphere with food, games, music, and entertainment, alongside the main attraction—rubber duck races.

Community members can “adopt” rubber ducks, each assigned a random tag number, which are entered into a series of races throughout the day. If a participant’s duck finishes among the top in its race, they win prizes. Multiple races are held, giving participants several chances to win.

The event is free to attend and open to all ages, though food, games, and activities may require purchase. Participants do not need to be present to win, and duck adoptions remain available until all ducks are sold out.

All proceeds from duck adoptions support Omega Nu’s charitable efforts, including scholarships, grants for teachers, and funding for local nonprofits—making the event both a fun community celebration and a meaningful fundraiser benefiting Santa Cruz County
