Get a behind-the-scenes look at Santa Cruz’s recycling operations during free summer tours of the Resource Recovery Facility.

Tours are offered Fridays at 10 a.m. from June 12 through August 14, with an additional Saturday tour on July 25. Visitors will see what happens to the 30 to 50 tons of recyclable material placed in Santa Cruz blue bins each day and learn why it’s important to “recycle right” and avoid “wish-cycling.”

Participants will also explore the City’s food scraps processing program, Household Hazardous Waste Program, and broader waste reduction efforts. Tours are free, but advance registration is required.
