West Cliff 5-Year Roadmap

The 5-year Roadmap serves as a tool for advancing decisions made in the 50-Year West Cliff Community Vision, while maintaining accountability for the City to implement adaptive coastal management along the dynamic coast of West Cliff and align projects across City planning documents.

50-Year Community Vision for West Cliff

The 50-year Community Vision represents the community's aspirations for what West Cliff will look like in 50 years and how the community wants to use West Cliff in the future. It allows the City to allocate resources to projects which may take decades to plan, fund, and complete. This also gives the City time to build disaster resilience along West Cliff to weather future extreme storms and ongoing stressors and protect the community from the impacts of climate change. By doing so, the City aims to ensure the protection and well-being of the community for generations to come.

West Cliff Drive Adaptation and Management Plan

The West Cliff Drive Adaptation and Management Plan: a Public Works Plan was adopted by City Council on April 27, 2021. The City is taking the Plan and the Local Coastal Program Amendment to the California Coastal Commission for approval in early 2023. The City is currently implementing projects in the West Cliff Drive Plan including developing a coastal change monitoring program. Check this page for updates on coastal resilience.

El Plan de Adaptación y Gestión de West Cliff Drive: un Plan de Obras Públicas fue aprobado por el Ayuntamiento el 27 de abril de 2021. La ciudad está llevando el Plan y la Enmienda del Programa Costero Local a la Comisión Costera de California para su aprobación a principios de 2023. Actualmente, la ciudad está ejecutando proyectos del Plan de West Cliff Drive, incluido el desarrollo de un programa de seguimiento del cambio costero.
