Court Improvements for Pickleball and Tennis

Project Overview:

In November 2025, the City and UCSC agreed to allow the City to convert the two existing tennis courts at UCSC’s 2300 Delaware Avenue site into eight courts dedicated exclusively to pickleball. The City will also renovate the existing shared-use (pickleball and tennis) courts at Sgt. Derby Park to provide two courts dedicated exclusively to tennis. Overall, the project intends to create dedicated pickleball courts while preserving tennis at Sgt. Derby Park.

As part of the project, both court locations will be patched, surfaced, painted, and netted for the intended use. Rule signs will indicate the allowable use. The City is working with a contractor to ensure both courts are completed at the same time to minimize disruption to each user group.

Project Schedule:

Construction may begin as early as October, weather permitting.
